Fender Vibrolux Reverb Blackface Amp 1966 - Jensen 12" C12N Serviced
Fender Vibrolux Reverb Amp 1966 - This unit has been re-capped and a few problematic resistor changed. Has a single Jensen 12" C12N Special Design - Tested, Amp is functional. We have the bag of caps and resistors that were replaced for those that want to keep them for the future value. The tube chart inside the amp has the Letters PC (March 1966) and the chassis indicates "Fender Electrical Music" Which would be consistent with the (Post 1965) CBS Amps. The chassis is stamped A04483 again consistent with year 1966. So the amp is very likely 1966.
1.) Since most of these came with 2 x 10" Speakers, it unusual to have the one 12" Jensen, so although that model speaker was utilized in several Fender amps of that time, it just hard to say when the replacement was done. What is very interesting is the the front speaker baffle board appears tp be a Fender original (see photos), possibly from another amp. Very strange as the date codes from the tube label and the chassis match years.
2.) The amp chassis is affixed with cup washers only and not typical Fender chassis straps (see photos) on top of the material. It has cupped Washers. The chassis is clean (see photos) and the tube sockets/shields on the 12AT7s, 12 AX7, 7025s, also very clean and therefore may have been replaced. All tubes including 6L6GC and GZ34 are JJ.
3.) TR1 may be new or removed and the cover painted. (see photos), TR2-TR4 appear to be original Fender numbers (see photos).
History: This amp was owned by a well know local musician for the past 35-40 years as best guessed by his surviving wife who kept the records. Recently the gentleman who serviced the amp for 35 years is passed away. We do know it was gigged live (local) very occasionally, and lived mainly in his home studio. It has been serviced by the same guy the whole time he owned it, and is in wonderful playing condition. It has almost no hum. It does have a 3 Prong cord, but it was used with a ground isolator plug adapter.
Condition: As shown in photos. The case shows it's heritage, as most do at this point. It has a new wood back brace that seem very stout. The sound is very good. We are happy to plug it in, to verify operation. Bring your own guitar. This is a cash sale, No Holds. Call or text for pick-up. No foot switches are included. The sound is superb, as you must know if you made it this far in the description, clean detailed sound at low volumes, increased headroom, and smooth overdrive when cranked to higher levels.
