McIntosh SL6 Loudspeaker System - Includes original boxes - The SL6 System is a three way floor tower with two 6" woofers, 6" woofer/midrange and three 1" aluminum dome tweeters. The cabinets are slim line with offset grills. The speakers were THX approved. These are made in a Black Ash finish with black grill cloth. The SL-6 also has magnetic shielding. The crossovers are capable of bi-amping, with terminals for biamp/biwire. Black grille cloth. Cash Sale, No Holds, call or text for pick-up.
Condition: Good overall condition given age. Typical signs of use, light scratching no significant loss anywhere. Grills are good and cabinets bases are clean. Recently checked out by DALAUDIO LLC. All components are operating as they should. These are a consecutive numbered matching pair (see photos).
Opinion: These Sl-6s are yet another speaker system that folks love to provide 5 star reviews or conversely, love to bash. There are many glowing reviews. Why? The overall imaging is evenly spread both horizontally and vertically. The tone is clear and crisp, and you will hear everything that is there, some folks call that tone brilliant. I'd say if you are listening to vinyl keep your records clean. These do have a very good mid tone with a single 6" mid and surprising bass given the pair of 6" woofers. The marketing claims they were equally created for surround and critical listening. From an efficiency standpoint at 85db they are on the low end of the efficiency scale as other McIntosh speakers reside, so make sure you have adequate amplification power to get the most headroom possible, especially at lower volumes with music. I think they were very pleasant with a 70 WPC amp (say the minimum) and absolutely can handle a 200 WPC amp with ease.
