Yamaha NS-344 3 Way Studio Reference Monitor Speakers - Tested VGC
Yamaha NS-344 3-Way Studio Reference Monitors Speakers VGC/Mint. These handsome speakers have been tested. The crossover capacitors were also tested. The level controls operate properly. The crossover is a handmade LC network, with very high quality coils, and caps. Technically the condition of these vintage speakers is excellent.
The only cosmetic issue we want to point out is that we replaced the woofer dust cap on the left speaker. Due to the dust covers age (new) it's a bit whiter that the cone (see second photo). The cabinets are in very very good condition. The grills are mint and both speaker emblems are intact.
The sound is excellent and impressive. One of the best vintage speakers sub $1000 that I have heard. They are efficient, yet powerful, mostly transparent. Vocals and instrumentals shine. As for sound level, wow plenty... and very nice tight bass, midrange and high end is clear & crisp. If you love and listen to vinyl these are the speakers for you. I used a DALAUDIO LM3886 Studio Analog Amplifier for my testing (60WPC).
Amplifier power range specification needs to be adhered to. A high quality 1970s Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, Marantz, or similar integrated/receiver, will make these NS-344 sing. If you are using a newer 2 channel amplifier, just make sure its analog, not digital, and that it produces clean power. The amp should be in the 35 to 70 Watt RMS @ 8 Ohms. Please do not hook these up to a 200WPC 1990-2000 home theater of any kind , you will have a melted mess in short order.
