Vintage Nikko 8080 AM/FM Receiver - Excellent - Box and Manual - Serviced
Vintage Nikko 8085 AM/FM Silver Stereo Receiver, with Wood Case manual and original box. These are hard to come by for several reasons noted below. These 8085 were built in Japan in the late 1970s. Nikko was a manufacturer of high-end stereo equipment but relatively unknown but for for a few key distributors in Australia, Japan and the USA mainly on the west coast. While they were technically competitive with high-end brands like Pioneer and Sansui, they did not have the glitzy marketing campaigns that filled the audio magazines in the 70s and 80s. They eventually became fairly well known by some national chains a bit too late, as some of their units were 20% or more less than similar spec competitors units. The 8085 was one of their flagship receivers (and likely most popular) with a retail price around $295 (when Pioneer SX-780's were $395). We have the original Box Packing and Manual for this 70s period audio gem. This is a very good sounding unit, with powerful soundstage and image on FM as well as the phono and Aux inputs.
